Very similar to my setup, except I use Evernote instead of Backpack, I use Twitter instead of Google Reader, I use Blogger as a backup to Posterous, and I host my photos on Flickr Pro.

I love Pinboard's mentality of speed, focus, privacy and simplicity. I've been on Delicious since late '04, so I'm def married to the service in some sense, but Pinboard has been a refreshing change for me (plus, it's simple to mail in links from GMail and sync up to Backpack).

I still say relying to heavily on Google for your important stuff may or may not be a good idea. Although, I'm not one to talk, as most of my blogs are on Blogger....

Yeah, I understand that point. I do keep backups (on my Ubuntu laptop nonetheless!) of email via Thunderbird and family pics/docs in Dropbox and Jungledisk. But I'm becoming increasingly "ok" with being so reliant on Google b/c they do seem to be moving towards the open mentality with Android, Wave and even the On2 acquisition. Hopefully, they'll continue to do no evil!

And if they do, I'll just export and move onto another cloud.

I'm fairly confident Google and Amazon will all be around far longer than me or my data needs. Again, if one does go away for some reason, I'll just export out and move on.

I've had 2 (top of the line) backup drives fail on me over the last five years and lost precious and irreplaceable data b/c I thought everything was fine if it was backed up locally. Meanwhile, all of my mail from using GMail (started using in '04) is still accessible wherever I am. All of my Delicious bookmarks from '04 onwards are still there. My pics are still doing well on Flickr and Picasa. My docs going back to the Writely days are fine on GDocs.

I'm completely over the false sense of "local storage" security.

My comment goes more to who's holding the data, as opposed to the security of the data itself. I haven't had your experiences, so, I can't comment on what you call a false sense of security of local storage. I deal with intellectual property, and would rather backup locally, so no one else has a change to access/change/corrupt my data until such time as I deem it necessary.
